FLORA—On Thursday, April 4th the Flora police Department was notified by the Unit #35 School District that they had received information of a juvenile making plans of violent acts at the Floyd Henson JR High. These threats were of a nature that a criminal investigation was started. During the course of the investigation it was determined that a specific threat did exist. The juvenile was not attending the Floyd Henson JR High at the time.
Subsequent to the investigation, the juvenile was placed under arrest, and placed in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center pending further evaluation and court appearances.
The Unit #35 school district, Flora Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County States Attorney’s Office and the Clay County Probation Office conducted the investigation. Due to prior training and great cooperation among the assisting agencies, this incident was identified before any acts where carried out by the juvenile.
