WAYNE CO.—A Williamson County man has been cited in Wayne County after an accident occurring earlier today, March 29, 2013.
According to Illinois State Police out of District 19 in Carmi, Walter Lawson, age 54, of Creal Springs, was northbound on Wayne County Highway 13, just north of Wayne County Road 200N in his International straight truck, when for unknown reasons, he drove off the east side of the roadway.
After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a ditch embankment and overturned.
Walter, along with his passenger Joseph D. Lawson, were both wearing their seatbelts. The accident occurred just before 7:30 a.m. this morning.
Walter received non-life threatening injuries as a result of the traffic crash and was transported by Harre’s Ambulance Service to Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois. Joseph was not treated for any injuries.
Walter Lawson was charged with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
The vehicle was removed from the traffic crash scene by Rick’s Towing of Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
