COLES CO.— An Arizona woman has been charged with Methamphetamine Possession and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Court documents show that on September 30 at approximately 5:01 p.m. officer Mike Southworth responded to a call in regards to a tip that was received by dispatch about an outstanding warrant.
Dispatch informed officer Southworth where he could meet the informant.
When Southworth met with the informant he was told that Celia Lea Lawrence, 44, of 1066 West Pecos, Mesa, Ariz. had an outstanding warrant for a DUI and that she was driving while suspended.
Southworth was given the license plate number and description of the car Lawrence was driving and after locating it waited for her to get in the vehicle.
At approximately 5:55 p.m. he saw Lawrence get into the car and put the keys in the ignition.
Southworth then pulled up to Lawrence’s vehicle and asked to see her identification but she could not provide it and said her name was Celia L. Lawrence.
A Coles County K-9 officer was also on scene and reported the dog alerted for drugs on the vehicle and the vehicle was searched.
Southworth searched Lawrence’s purse subsequent to her arrest and reported finding 460 mg of morphine, miscellaneous other pills that are still being identified and two syringes loaded with methamphetamine.
Bond was set in the amount of $2,500 cash.
