DWIGHT, IL — The Illinois State Police (ISP) and Dwight Police Department are seeking the assistance of the public for any leads into a fatal shooting that occurred at 200 West North Street in Dwight on Saturday, June 14, at approximately 4:30 a.m.
A 60-year-old female and her 30 year old daughter were both fatally shot inside their home. Another 23 year old male subject was also shot and remains in stable condition at an area hospital.
Illinois State Police investigators are providing assistance to the Dwight Police Department. Law enforcement officials are making progress with some of the leads received and encourage the public to continue to provide information to authorities. Preliminary investigative details indicate that the shooting is an isolated incident.
“We have no reason to believe that the public or community is in any danger, but as a precaution, we always encourage residents and community members to report any suspicious activity to police,” said Dwight Police Chief Tim Henson. “We are working around the clock with our law enforcement partners to locate the offender who committed this heinous crime,” he said.
