LAWRENCE CO.—The word Lawrence County has been waiting to hear for more than a decade has come down:
Billy Darnell is no longer chief of police.
The information came to us at about 5 p.m. today, confirmed by official sources within Lawrence County.
Darnell was part of a barroom brawl that occurred Friday night at The Townehouse bar in Lawrenceville and involved one of his illegitimate offspring, Travis, who is currently the subject of an investigation into striking a responding Lawrenceville police officer and county board member, Ryan Curtis.
We don’t have the specifics on why Darnell was finally fired; Ang talked to Terri Wease at city hall in St. F earlier today, and Terri advised that she didn’t know about the incident. SHE may not have known, but apparently St. F’s mayor Don Ravellette (who was elected in April of this year) did, and we’re pretty proud of him. After such things as serious beatings and dog attacks being inflicted on restrained suspects (2003-04), seizure items (drugs) and drop guns (guns with the serial number being filed off) being found in his garage (September 2004), running various people off the road in a fit of pique (2006-2012), and being taken to court repeatedly in order to satisfy multiple child support debts (here, here and here, since he procreates with impunity), one would think there’d have been ample opportunity to have fired him…but to no avail, and probably because of the previous mayors who have been in office, who all seemed scared of the petite punk Pee. Apparently, this latest idiocy was the last straw for Ravellette, and to this we say, “SA-LUTE, Mr. Mayor.”
We are planning something special for you…a sort of “special edition” PeeWee post that has links to just about every article we’ve ever produced on the pusillanimous punk since 2003. You’ll have to have a subscription to the e-Edition to see it…but it’ll be worth it. Hit that link today and enjoy the current and past e-Editions…and watch for the PeeWee special. We’ve chronicled a lot of loser public officials over the past 11 years; but PeeWee always prompted the most outrage, and we, at least, are delighted to see him GO.
