KNOX CO., Ind.—Today’s storms tore viciously through Knox County, on the Wabash River across the way from Lawrence.
As far as we’ve learned, there have been no deaths in Knox as a result of today’s (Sunday, November 17, 2013) storm. Emergency and law enforcement authorities are still working with the numbers as regards those injured, those left homeless, those with damage, etc. It may be weeks before the totals are known.
Our correspondent works in Vincennes, and left from there to travel across the area stricken, intent on accessing the area on U.s. 41…but there were poles down on that highway, and police had the highway shut down. Our correspondent then traveled back roads, including St. Thomas Road, to access the Decker area of Knox, where most of these were taken.
We’ll start with a photo that was taken from the front porch of a rural residence in Decker, the home of Patrick Mischler, to show the size of at least one of the tornadoes that affected the area today and submitted to our correspondent by Mischler; the rest are taken from our correspondent’s trip across the county and are primarily of Decker. The presentation ends with a video interview of Mischler from his home.
