PEKIN, Ill. – In Pekin, damages are still being evaluated, but the damages that are already known are phenomenal. Luckily, no serious injuries have been reported, everyone is accounted for, and no lives were lost.
According to official reports out of Pekin, over 100 homes have been damaged, and 46 homes are completely uninhabitable, leaving many people displaced.
Workers who are helping tonight, after today’s line of storms tor through the region, will continue to work into the night to help those who are in need. Currently, volunteer and local workers are getting those who have been displaced or are otherwise in need to shelters that have been set up in the area.
The Salvation Army located at 243 Derby Street in Pekin is already equipped to help anyone who has need of shelter or food. Another aid center and shelter has been set up at Avanti’s Dome at 3401 Griffin Avenue.
Anyone who wishes to help those in need should contact either facility to find out what is currently needed, be it workers or materials.
