ELDORADO—Yesterday, December 12, was a wild day around South Counties, and Eldorado in Saline seemed to be bearing the brunt of it.
While we’re still collecting info about it, we’ve had it confirmed by official sources that one Susan Stamps, 41, was stabbed in the abdomen last night at a location on Pine Street in rado. Stamps was transported to Ferrell Hospital and reportedly life-flighted to a hospital in Evansville shortly thereafter. We’re unaware of her condition this morning, and don’t know how serious the wound was last night.
What we do know, from these same official sources, is that following the report of the stabbing, law enforcement officials were looking for two young men (in their 20s), both of them tall, 6 feet to 6-foot-2.
Thus far we have been unable to confirm some interesting aspects of yesterday’s events, including that a weapon (knife or other sharp object) was still embedded in Stamps’ abdomen when she made it to Ferrell (although that’s a good idea, actually…most of the time, in a stab wound, things get considerably worse when the sharp object is removed than they would have been were it to have stayed in place); that the two guys in question were clad in black leather jackets; that there were more than two (some reports had four); or that all the hellraising across the county yesterday was a distraction so that this particular alleged crime could have been accomplished.
However, there was a LOT of hellraising in Saline yesterday: official sources have also confirmed an incident on the parking lot of Rural King in Harrisburg, with the still-sketchy details being that a man punched another man in the face on the parking lot, jumped in his car to drive away, and was literally chased out of town by a number of responding officers from both city and county, all of this somehow making its way toward Eldorado. We’re unclear on the outcome of this, but when we get a moment, we’ll call our county people and see what came of it.
Another report of an attempted child abduction in Harrisburg has gone unconfirmed as yet, but we’ll be working on that one, too.
And then there’s the matter of some incidents in Gallatin County, specifically, Ridgway, which we’ve only just begun to look into this morning, all of it causing a flurry of activity there yesterday.
So feel free to discuss what you know about any and all of these here…were you aware of all this activity? Were you a victim of it, or were some of the victims (or even perpetrators) close to you?
