JASPER CO–Illinois State Police reported the crash from last night (November 15) occurred at 6:10 p.m. in Jasper County, on Illinois Route 130 at 100 N.
The incident began when Roman B. Yoder, 25, of Calyton, who was wearing his seatbelt, driving a 2005 black Toyota Camry and Alexandra M. Mier y León, 26, Newton, driving a grey 2007 Toyota Corolla, also was wearing her seatbelt were both traveling North bound on Il route 130. Yoder was behind Mier y León, when Mier y León began to make a stop to turn on to Jasper County road 100 N. and Yoder failed to stop as well, striking the back of Mier y León’s Corolla.
The strike caused the Corolla to be pushed into on coming traffic in the south bound lane. Terry L. Trye, 38, from Richland, Ind. driving a white 2009 Trouble(sp) truck-tractor, who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, struck the Corolla. Both the truck-tractor and the Corolla came to a rest on the road way. The Camry drove off into the field to the east of the road.
Mier y León was flown to Carle Foundation Hospital, in Champaign. She is in critical condition (with type A injuries). Yoder was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
