
CARMI, Ill. - Two men are locked up today at the city/county jail in Carmi after a search warrant carried out at a residence in town yielded a number of illicit items consistent with the dealing of drugs, including meth.
Carmi Police advise that this past Friday, March 29, at 3:01 p.m., they went to execute a search warrant at a residence located at the 800 block of Smith Street.
During the search, a large amount of methamphetamine was located as well as was drug paraphernalia, syringes, scales, baggies, cannabis and cannabis paraphernalia.

Two occupants of the residence, Kenneth P. Brown, 43, and Charles E. Newman, 59, were arrested and charged with Possession of Meth, Possession with Intent to Deliver Meth, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Hypodermic Syringes.

Brown was additionally charged with Unlawful Use of Property (in the commission of a meth crime); documents don't show whether the property was the apartment, a vehicle, or another structure.
Carmi Police advised that more charges might be coming. The two men remained in jail as of this afternoon, Monday, April 1.
