Leontorez Day

RICHLAND CO., Ill. - A guy who continues to be on the radar of Olney and Richland County authorities and has been for a decade now is back in Andy's House of U-Been-Bad (aka Richland County Jail).

Leontorez M. Day, 31 of Olney, found himself the subject of a burglary investigation on February 23, 2019, this after a report of missing tools was made by one Chris Stajduhar on Feb. 16.

Court files indicate that on or about that date, someone entered Stajduhar's property located on the 200 block of North Lexington in Olney and made off with what was described as "a large number of power tools" as well as regular tools, with a value in excess of $500.

The investigation lead to Day, who apparently wasn't very smart about it: It's reported that when Stadjuhar's tools were located, they were found in the common area of the basement at the apartment building where Day resides (the 100 block of Hill Top)...and Day's wallet, containing his Illinois State Identification card, was discovered in amongst the tools.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the tools found in Day's control were worth $6,000-7,000, and so his bond was set quite high, given the value and the fact that Day continues to make the court docket: $20,000 cash, which explains why five weeks after he was jailed on Feb. 23, he remains locked up at the Richland County Detention Center (Andy's House of U-Been-Bad).

Day has been arrested and charged repeatedly in Richland for the past decade. He was actually on Conditional Discharge for the last felony to which he plead (said plea happening on November 19, 2018) when arrested for the Burglary covered here. That, along with his serious record, probably explains why he's still locked up and likely will be until Richland seeks to have him put back into IDOC for whatever term they see fit; many hope it will be something meaningful this time instead of the catch-and-release that keeps people like Day on the streets.
