PETERSBURG, Ill. - Illinois State Police have been working a case in central Illinois involving the death of a Petersburg, Illinois, woman, who was found in the roadway early this morning.
Illinois State Police upstate said that early today (Thursday, January 31, 2019), at approximately 5:21 a.m., the Petersburg Police Department and the Menard County Sheriff's Office were called to the 500 block of West Williams Street in Petersburg, Illinois, for a report of an unconscious person in the roadway.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 43-year-old female in the roadway. The subject, identified as Lori K. Cody, 43 of Petersburg, was pronounced deceased by the Menard County Coroner.
Illinois State Police (ISP) Zone 4 Investigations was contacted to investigate. An autopsy was conducted and the preliminary findings revealed there was no indication of foul play.
Toxicology results are pending. This is an active and ongoing investigation and no additional information will be released at this time.
