PALESTINE, Ill. – A registered sex offender previously residing in Lawrence County is alleged to have failed to register a move to neighboring Crawford to the north, according to information supplied by Palestine Chief of Police Jeff Besing.

Besing said that earlier today (January 14, 2019) at approximately1:40 p.m. he received a tip of a registered sex offender living at a residence in the 500 block of E. Grand Prairie Street, Palestine, who had not transferred his residency from Lawrence County, Illinois.

Chief Besing made contact with Chance B. Queen, 33 of Lawrenceville, at the residence on E. Grand Prairie Street and placed him under arrest.

Queen was transported to the Crawford County Jail, where he was charged with Class 3 felony Failure to Report Change of Address, processed and is being held pending bond being set by a judge.

Queen's sex offense conviction came about in the state of Georgia, so naturally, there's no photo of him on the Illinois Sex Offender Registry. However, his offense is described therein as Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of a victim between the ages of 13 and 16. The records show that the victim was 14 and Queen was 25 at the time of the offense.
