Improvements made to the White County Jail in Carmi after the June 2018 jailbreak
WHITE CO., Ill. - The Illinois Department of Corrections - which oversees the operations of county jails - says there are no deficiencies or violations at White's facility in Carmi.

Questions have arisen regarding Maier's budget in the county, these coming up just prior to election. Whether those questions were intended to detract from Maier's re-election (which happened, incidentally) or if they're legitimate concerns remains unknown. However, this is Maier's offering as to the status of his jail operations. If someone has something that refutes the stats here, they'll have to submit it. We await just such a thing, and will be happy to publish it.
