WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. - Authorities still haven't released any more official information other than "it happened" following the death of a young Johnston City man late last week in Marion.
Williamson County Coroner Junior Burke has, however, released official information advising that the victim in a car-v-pedestrian incident Thursday (September 27) was identified as Andrew D. Godell, 23, of JC.
The situation emerged when someone called in to authorities at 10:23 p.m. Thursday night, advising that a man had been struck by a vehicle on Illinois Route 37 just south of Cedar Grove Road in Marion.
Judging by the way the presser was worded, it would appear that authorities know who the motorist was and that the incident wasn't a hit-and-run, but one can never tell these days. So, we await more info from authorities as to who else was involved, whether any charges are going to be filed, and other basic details that usually accompany a pedestrian death.
