CUMBERLAND CO., Ill. - An early-morning accident this morning sent a Missouri trucker to a hospital in Mattoon after another trucker ran him off the road.
Illinois State Police in District 12 Effingham worked the wreck, which occurred at 4:35 a.m. this morning, Monday, October 1.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that a 2018 white Mack truck-tractor being driven by Mickey Yount, 51, of Cape Girardeau, was traveling north on Interstate 57 at milepost 179 when, Yount advised, another truck veered over into his lane.
To avoid the vehicle, Yount drove onto the median. However, he lost control after going into the median and veered back across the roadway into the right ditch, where it came to rest.
Yount was taken to Sarah Bush hospital in Mattoon; there have been no citations issued.
