WHITE CO., Ill. - A Carmi guy with a lengthy history of criminality in White County is off for another short stint in Illinois Department of Corrections after his most recent infractions.

Jason K. Ballard, 32, was sentenced earlier today (Monday, September 24) on two pending counts: Unlawful Use of Property, a Class 2 felony, and Possession of Weapon by Felon, a Class 3 felony.

Per a plea agreement, Ballard will serve a sentence of 5 years in IDOC on both counts; he'll do two years of parole on the first count, and only a year of parole on the second, with the actual sentences running concurrently.

The allegation behind Count I was that Ballard used his residence to help in committing the offense of possession of methamphetamine, said White County State's Attorney Denton Aud. The allegation behind Count II is that Ballard possessed brass knuckles and is a felon.

Carmi Police Department was the arresting agency. Judge T. Scott Webb was the sentencing judge. Attorney Roger White represented Ballard.
