WHITE CO., Ill. - A young man from the Williamson County village of Cambria was the sole occupant of a vehicle that crashed on a White County highway earlier today.
Illinois State Police from District 19 in Carmi said the wreck occurred at 7:55 a.m. today, Monday, September 24.
According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation supplied by ISP, the driver of the
2008 Chevrolet HHR, Shane Carter, 19, was traveling westbound on Illinois 141 in road conditions that have been described as "wet and raining."
Carter’s vehicle went off the north side of the roadway and onto the shoulder with its passenger side tires. Carter attempted to steer back onto the roadway and lost control of the Chevrolet. It crossed over into the eastbound lane of travel and went off the south side of the roadway and hit a tree.
Carter was wearing a seatbelt and received minor injuries. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
Carter was subsequently cited for Improper Lane Usage.
The Illinois State Police was assisted at the scene by the White County Ambulance Service and the towing services of Cherry Street Garage in Carmi.
