PALESTINE, Ill. - A dangerous driving situation got an allegedly-impaired motorist off the road yesterday in Crawford County thanks to the joint efforts of the Crawford County Sheriff's Office and Palestine Police Department.
Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing said that at about 7:46 p.m. last night (Wednessday, September 19), Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing arrested Joshua A. York, 33 of Palestine, for Aggravated Driving while under the Influence of Alcohol, Speeding (80 in a 55), Driving while Revoked and Operating a Motor Vehicle with an Expired Registration Sticker.
Chief Besing was investigating a suspicious vehicle on East Franklin Street when York turned northbound on North Main Street in Palestine and proceeded northbound on CR1800E in an attempt to get out of town. Chief Besing was able to stop York on CR1150N approximately a quarter-mile west of CR1650E.
York was transported to the Crawford County Jail for processing and is being held in lieu of bond being set on the felony DUI charge.
