WAYNE CO., Ill. - Another one of those "vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons" accidents has left a man from Litchfield dead in Wayne County.
Illinois State Police in District 19 Carmi report that the single-vehicle fatality occurred on Interstate 64 at milepost 109 at approximately 8:40 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, August 29.
According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of a black 1999 Isuzu Rode, Benjamin D. Hollo, 37, of Litchfield on the western side of the state, was westbound on 64 approaching milepost 109 in rural Wayne County when for unknown reasons, he left the south side of the roadway.
The vehicle continued to travel in the median until it struck several trees before coming to rest.
The Wayne County Coroner's Office pronounced Hollow deceased at the scene of the traffic crash.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Department, Wayne County Ambulance Service, Wayne County Coroner's Office and Rick's Towing assisted ISP District 19 at the crash scene; the fatality remains under investigation.
