SALINE CO., Ill. - A Saline County felon was the recipient of the county's largesse after he was caught in - and rescued from - a culvert ealier this morning in the village of Muddy.
According to a press release by Saline County authorities, Saline County Central Dispatch received a 911 call before 10:30 a.m. today (Satuday, August 18) reporting a person trapped in the culvert drain.
A Saline County Deputy, Saline County EMS and the Harrisburg Fire Department were dispatched to the scene near 100 Public Street in Muddy. Saline County Deputy Charles Welge arrived on scene and confirmed that there was a person inside an approximately 14-inch in diameter culvert drain pipe.
David K. Duffy, 41, of Harrisburg was rescued out of the culvert drain and was taken to Harrisburg Medical Center for treatment. It is unknown at this time why Duffy was in the culvert drain and exactly how long he had been in there. A neighbor in the area told Deputy Welge that he had heard something around 6:30 a.m. while walking his dog in the area, but was unable to locate anything.
Duffy is currently on a 30-month probation sentence for a recent burglary in Saline, that sentence handed to him in late April.
