MARION, Ill. - Reginald L. Cavitt, aka “Reggie,” 37, of Marion, Illinois, has been sentenced to federal prison for a firearm offense, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Steven D. Weinhoeft announced Friday.
Cavitt, who previously pled guilty to a one-count indictment charging unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, was sentenced to 36 months imprisonment, to be followed by two years of supervised release. He will be credited one month toward his sentence for time served on a related state case. Cavitt was also fined $200 and ordered to forfeit a Taurus, model PT845, .45 caliber pistol to the United States.
The investigation was conducted by the Marion Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The Williamson County State's Attorney’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
