Thanes Natisri
MARION, Ill. - Marion has a global hero in its midst.
Thanes Natisri, owner of the popular Marion restaurant Thai D, was recognized last night (Monday, August 13) at the regularly-scheduled Marion City Council meeting for his part in helping to save the lives of the 12 soccer players and their coach in Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Thailand.
Natisri says he was already in Thailand on a summer water project when he received the call. He says he’s no hero and it was a "collective (effort) among all those involved."
Dave Severn was among those honoring Natisri and he’s even been invited to the Illinois House floor to be honored there.
