WHITE CO., Ill. - A vehicle has been reported stolen in Crossville, and White County authorities are investigating.

Sheriff Doug Maier reports that at approximately 4:36 a.m. this morning, one Corey Gregg, 29, of Wayne City in neighboring Wayne County, called the White County Sheriff’s Office to report a vehicle theft.

Deputy Scott Cantrell responded to a location on the 10000 block of East Main in Crossville to speak with Gregg, who advised that he works for Hydrochem and had parked his car - a black 2011 Mitsubishi Galant 4-door - outside of the gate when he left for work. Gregg stated that he’d left the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition, when he left the Hydrochem yard on August 13 at 5:30 p.m. He returned at 4:30 a.m. the next morning (today) to find the vehicle was missing, and immediately called the sheriff’s department.

In other White County Sheriff’s Department activity, Stephen D. Wilson Jr., 38, of Enfield, was arrested Friday, Aug. 10, on outstanding warrants from both White and Hamilton counties.

Wilson turned himself in at the sheriff’s department Friday at 1:15 p.m.; the White County warrant is for a 2018 felony case regarding Possession of Stolen Property with a $3,000 cash bond; the Hamilton County warrant is on a 2018 felony Theft over $500 charge, with a $1,500 cash bond.
