FELONY FRIDAY kicks off with cell-while-driving stop…and meth

WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. – One of those rare traffic stops for cell phone use resulted in the arrest of the following Franklin County residents, which story leads this week’s Felony Friday.

The driver, Zachary A. Wilson, 26 of Benton, is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Use of Cellphone While Driving. Front seat passenger Marty A. Hammers, 22 of Thompsonville, is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Back seat passenger Courtney L. Spears, 27 of West Frankfort, is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. All three are free on bond awaiting court appearances. Arresting agency: Marion Police.

Jonathan M. Watkins, 20 of Key West, Florida, has been charged with Participation in Meth Manufacturing, Methamphetamine Precursors and Possession of Hypodermic Needles. According to court files he is said to have had in his possession drain cleaner and an undetermined amount Coleman fuel in a Mountain Dew bottle. He admittedly stated he purchased the ingredients from a list for a friend who would manufacture the meth. He is incarcerated in the Williamson County Jail with a $1,000 cash bond. Arresting agency: Herrin Police.

Timothy Ryan Barone, 36 of a Carbondale address located in Williamson County, has been charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Cannabis. SIEG agents assisted DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services) where Barone gave consent to a search and the above items were located. Arresting agency: ISP.

Jesse L. Mosley, 34 of Johnston City, formerly of Creal Springs, is charged with two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse. He is currently in the Williamson County Jail with a $2,000 cash bond. Arresting agency: Williamson County Sheriff’s office.

April E. Snowden, 33 of Marion, is charged with One Count of Theft, Financial Exploitation Of An Elderly Person or Person With A Disability, Theft over $500. Arresting agency: Marion Police.

Douglas K. Hearn, 32 of Johnston City, has been charged with Retail Theft/Disposal of Merchandise less than $300 having been previously convicted. He is in the Williamson County Jail on category B bond $1,290 plus $375 and also on hold for Franklin County. Arresting agency: Herrin Police.

Jesse L. Frank, 31 of Johnston City, is charged with one count Retail Theft and one count Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams. Arresting agency: Marion police.

William D. Basenberg Jr., 24 of Energy, is charged with Theft/Stolen/Intent over $500, Unlawful Use Credit/Debit Card and Resisting Arrest he is in the Williamson County Jail; no bail at this time.

Travis L Reginato, 23 of Buckner, is charged with Theft/Control/Intent over $500.

Lisa F. Bryant, 49 of Herrin, is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams and Possession of Controlled Substance Except (A)/(D). Arresting agency: Herrin Police.

Felony Dispositions

Antoinette T. Rollin, 38 of Carrier Mills, plead Guilty to one count Retail Theft over $300. She received 24 months probation and 8 days in jail with credit for time served and fines.

James E. Fequay, 31 of Marion, plead Guilty to Possession of Meth Manufacturing Materials; he received 36 months probation plus fines.

James C. Mills, 27 of Marion, plead Not Guilty to Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer, charge dismissed. He plead Guilty to a Resisting Arrest and received 12 months probation and 2 days in jail with credit for time served plus fines.

Deandre M. Greenwood, 24 of Murphysboro, plead Guilty to Theft Under $300 with previous conviction; she received 30 months probation and fines.

Rufus S. Duplessis, 57 of Marion, plead Not Guilty to Criminal Damage to Government Property less than $500. Charge dismissed on State's motion.

David J. Landis Jr., 52 of Johnston City, plead Not Guilty to Aggravated Domestic Battery/Strangle. Case dismissed/State Motion

Michael S. McRoy, 50 of Herrin, plead Not Guilty to Possession of an Amount of Controlled Substance Except A and D and Resisting. Dismissed Nolle Prosequi

Rufus S. Phillips, 49 of Cambria, plea unknown to Domestic Battery/Other prior; Dismiss/State Motion.

DUIs

Scot C. McVey, 54 of Herrin, one count. Arresting agency Johnston City police.

Mathew Thomas Carter, 34 of West Frankfort, two counts. Arresting agency ISP.

Billy C. Gressett, 38 of Marion, DUI, DWLS, Reckless Conduct. He is in the Williamson County Jail with category B bond of $880 cash.

Johnny L. Casey, 27 of Marion, one count DUI-Drugs. Arresting agency Williamson County traffic.

Leonard M. Cary Jr., 44 of Carbondale, one count. Arresting agency: Williamson County traffic

DUI Dispositions

Joshua K. Jessie, 26 of Marion, plead Not Guilty to 2 Counts DUI/Drug. One count was dismissed and on one count he received 12 months court supervision plus fines.
