CUMBERLAND CO., Ill. - A second accident happened this morning almost immediately after the accident in Cumberland County that sent an Indianapolis man to the hospital, this on Interstate 70.
Illinois State Police say that at about a quarter to eight this morning (Sunday, June 17), a white 2016 Volvo truck-tractor being driven by Surinder Gill, 51, of Fontana, California, and a blue 2014 Kenworth truck tractor being driven by Latina Allen, 41, of Indianapolis, were traveling westbound on 70 at milepost 113 in the right lane.
The Kenworth was stopped in traffic from the previous crash. Gill, in the Volvo, failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of the trailer of Allen's Kenworth.
Allen was transported by ambulance to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
Gill was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
