Traffic stop leads to multiple arrests of Vincennes folks, Robinson driver

PALESTINE, Ill. - Palestine authorities have announced a serious set of arrests that occurred very early Sunday morning when a vehicle was tracked out of the village.

Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing initiated a vehicle stop on a 1998 Black Dodge Ram truck at approximately 12:44 a.m. early this morning, Sunday, June 3 on Route 33 just east of Gordon Junction in reference to a possible non-licensed driver.

The vehicle stop subsequently resulted in the arrest of the driver (Bryan A. Shanes, 31 of Robinson) on an active arrest warrant out of Knox County, Indiana, for Failure to Appear which was extraditable. Shanes was also issued a traffic citation for Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

A further investigation into this vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of the driver (Shanes) and two female passengers (Myra G. Hooten, 24 and Dee Ett M. Ramsey, 26, both of Vincennes, Ind.) for Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine.

All subjects were transported to the Crawford County Jail where they were charged, processed and are being held in lieu of bond. Shanes is also being held on the Knox County warrant.

Assisting Chief Besing with this arrest was Robinson Police Officer Nick Earnest.
