WHITE CO., Ill. - A Criminal Damage to Property report has been made in White County after yet another oil field theft attempt.
White County Deputy Randy Graves took a report Saturday, June 2, regarding damage and attempted theft the night before.
Jim Reynolds was the reporter, and he advised that sometime between 5 p.m. Friday, June 1, and 11 a.m. Saturday, someone entered upon the Ackerman oil lease at 1300N at a half-mile east of 1700E. The oil well in question is on the north side of the roadway.
The suspect at this location, Reynolds reported, climbed the stairs to the oil well. The suspect then took the bolts and nuts off the back of the well causing the weights to drop off the well. The weights hit the electric motor, causing damage to the motor. The suspect did not take the weights; in Graves' report, it's noted that it's unknown as to why the weights weren't taken.
