CUMBERLAND CO., Ill. - A gentleman from Louisiana was transported to a Terre Haute, Indiana hospital following a wreck this evening in Cumberland County.

Illinois State Police in District 12 said the single-vehicle accident occurred at 5:32 p.m. today, Friday, June 1, on Interstate 70 eastbound at milepost 112.

Preliminary investigation, said ISP, shows that both the driver, Bruce McGaha, 68, of Oak Grove, La., and two witnesses stated there was a mechanical issue with the truck or trailer he was operating at the time of the crash: A red 1998 Chevrolet truck pulling a white 1996 fifth-wheel camper.

McGaha stated that the truck lost steering, veered right and left the roadway, traveling down the embankment into the trees, where it came to rest.

McGaha was transported to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute by Cumberland County EMS, for non-life-threatening injuries.

There have no citations issued; however, the crash remains under investigation.
