HAMILTON CO.—A McLeansboro man who lost control of a vehicle earlier this morning is reported to be okay after he crashed in an embankment off Dahlgren Blacktop.
Illinois State Police report that Daniel N. Wiggins, 26, of McLeansboro, was southbound in a 1999 Ford F150 on Hamilton County Road 150E (Dahlgren Blacktop) at Hamilton County Road 1500N at about 7:40 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle. ISP didn’t report what the reason was for loss of control, but when it occurred, they said, the truck left the roadway and traveled down a steep embankment on the west side of the highway.
Wiggins, the only person in the vehicle, was able to remove himself from it. He refused medical treatment at the scene; however, ISP said, he was driven by a family member to Hamilton County Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash.
Wiggins was issued a citation for Failure to Wear a Seatbelt.
ISP was assisted at the crash scene by Harre’s Ambulance Service and J&R Towing of McLeansboro.
