ISP REPORTS FATAL WRECK IN WABASH COUNTY

WABASH CO.—Illinois State Police worked the scene of a single-vehicle accident last night (Friday, May 31, 2013) which resulted in a fatality for a local man.

fatal single vehicle accidentAccording to preliminary traffic crash investigation by ISP, Phillip N. Pixley, 34, of Mt. Carmel, driving a 1998 Chevy Silverado pickup, was westbound on Wabash County Road 1220N approximately a half-mile east of CR 550E when for unknown reasons the truck ran off the south side of the roadway and into the ditch. The truck overturned and came to rest on its roof.

Sources close to the family indicate that Pixley may have been on his way home from the home of his close friend/boss, Russell Singer, of Mt. Carmel (who owns works with Pixley at a satellite TV installation business) at about 10:30 p.m. Singer somehow became aware of the accident not long after it happened (sources say he may have been traveling the same roadway and may have come upon the scene) and was able to call Pixley’s sister, Suzanne, to relay the news, since Pixley’s parents, Leon and Jacqueline Pixley, weren’t available, as they were actually on their way to Indianapolis to visit Suzanne.

Pixley was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wabash County Coroner’s office.

ISP was assisted at the scene by Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, the coroner’s office. Bellmont Fire Department, Bellmont First Responders, Wabash General Ambulance Service and Snelling’s Towing, who removed the vehicle.
