RICHLAND CO.—Once again Richland County’s sheriff’s department has not been releasing information on serious situations involving wrecks and crimes going on throughout the County.
At approximately 12:10 p.m. yesterday (Monday, May 28, 2013) a vehicle on Highway 50 close to Claremont was reported seen by numerous passersby, flipped completely over with its roof facing down in the ditch.
Our sources have advised that all they’re aware of is that two people, a man and a woman, were passengers involved in the wreck. The man was said to be alright but the woman was trapped in the vehicle and when she was freed from the vehicle she was transported by EMS to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. The extent of her injuries was unavailable as of this afternoon, Tuesday, May 28.
As is typical in the administration of sheriff Andy Hires, no information has been available to us on who the people were or where they were from, what caused the wreck and the conditions of either passengers. This reflects on the situations earlier this month with both the Claremont turn wreck and the high-speed chase; we have info on the wreck, but nothing on the chase, per FOIA. We continue to investigate not only these incidents, but why Hires believes it’s okay to run things this way in Richland…especially when people pass by a crash scene and know damn well something has happened, but not WHAT.
