CRAWFORD CO.—The woman behind the wheel of a van-motorcycle accident last Friday (04.26.13), the collision of which left an Indianapolis man dead at the scene, has been charged with DUI-drugs in Crawford County.
Joyce Holdiman, 28, has been formally charged with DUI-Drugs, classified as a misdemeanor, along with a handful of traffic tickets…and nothing more serious than that. The collision that occurred as her van (shown below) was making a turn near Buckskin Legacy in Trimble (not far from the Robinson Correction Center) took the life of motorcyclist Walter Scriff, 49, who ran headfirst into the van as it turned into his lane of travel on Illinois Route 1.
Holdiman’s passenger was Josh Tracy; he was on the side that the motorcycle struck, and was injured badly enough to be airlifted to Carle Clinic. Holdiman herself was taken in to the sheriff’s department in Crawford, where she was booked and her mom posted bond for her on the misdemeanor.
A charge resulting from the crash of Operating Uninsured has already been dismissed. She’s still charged with Improper Left Turn into Oncoming Traffic, as well as not wearing her seatbelt.
Our sources are telling us Holdiman is known to be quite the party girl and this situation may have resulted from said activity; we may find out on May 29, when she’s headed for a first appearance on the misdemeanor charge…if other charges don’t pop up between now and then.
