Here’s some info for those interested in joining a poker run for a damn good cause:
The Fowler-Bonan Inaugural 2013 “Clothes for Kids” Poker Run & Bike Show is scheduled for Saturday May 18th… If weather were to prevent it the event will be rescheduled for Saturday June 8th, but let’s hope that doesn’t happen…
The activities starts at Harrisburg American Legion 600, E. Logan Street in Harrisburg.
Registration starts at 10:00am 1st bike out at noon, last bike in by 5:00pm… $15.00 rider entry free & $10.00 for a passenger.
Best Poker Hand cash prize is $350.00, worst Poker Hand cash prize is $150.00… An extra card purchase (optional) will be available at the end of the run for $1.00 to help better your hand if you choose to…
Each rider may pay $1.00 (optional) and guess the exact mileage of the run prior to leaving and the one closest to the exact mileage wins the pot after the ride.
A beautiful ride that goes through 4 counties – Saline, Pope, Hardin & Gallatin…
POKER RUN ROUTE
1st Stop – Harbison’s Country Store on Rt. 34 at Karber’s Ridge Road,
2nd Stop – E-Town Tap (a.k.a. The Love Shack) on Rt. 146 downtown Elizabethtown,
3rd Stop – The Oasis Bar & Grill downtown Ridgway,
4th Stop – The American Legion in New Haven, then back to Harrisburg Legion for the last card draw, Bike Show, and entertainment.
The evening of the events will take place in the banquet hall at the Harrisburg American Legion which consists of food and fun throughout the evening. Here’s the evening event schedule…

5:15 Magic Show (Mike Gibbs) while everyone eats & hangs out
6:00 Cash prizes announced for best & worst poker hands
6:15 Bike Show Starts – 2 classes ( On the west parking lot )
7:15 Trophy presentations
7:30 Various biker awards presentation
7:45 50/50 Drawing, raffle drawings & door prize drawings
8:00 Silent Auction winners announced
8:15 Sponsor recognition
8:30 Fowler-Bonan Foundation President, Dale Fowler
9:00 till Midnight, D.J. begins.
The Bike Show consists of 2 classes (Vintage/Antique – 1988 & earlier) & (Best in Show – any bike can enter this class, Original, custom, trikes, etc.) $10.00 entry fee per bike… 1st, 2nd & 3rd place trophies will be awarded for each class. (Total of 6 trophies will be awarded).
There will be vendor tables and New Harley Davidson motorcycles on display… Awards will be given to the oldest rider, the youngest rider, and to the rider who traveled the farthest to get here.
Free food will be served: Bar-B-Que, baked beans, cole slaw, chips & soft drink… The rear bar in the banquet room will be open for alcohol purchase.
Each participant (rider & passenger) will receive a free gift upon registration, and local motels are offering discounts to all participants who wish to spend the night in Harrisburg.
One hundred percent of the money will go to provide new clothes for needy children throughout southern Illinois.
