ROBINSON—A car crash in Robinson Wednesday brought charges to yet another errant Stifle in Crawford County.
Jason Stifle, 33, of rural Robinson, was behind the wheel of a vehicle that crashed on County Road 950 East just south of 1450 North Wednesday night, 04.17.13. While reports indicate that Stifle attempted to make a getaway from the crashed car, officers responding to the scene found Stifle in an apparent state of intoxication and took him in on preliminary charges of DUI-drugs (preliminary because blood tests will have to be returned before the charge can be pursued in court, although a charge has been filed by the state’s attorney), Improper Lane Usage and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
With Stifle were two people a little young for the 33-year-old to be hanging around with: Jeremy Rhinehart, 18, of Oblong, and a female juvenile. Rhinehart was arrested for Obstruction of Justice; the female was arrested for the same thing but also for Resisting a Peace Officer. Charges for Rhinehart haven’t shown up on judici yet, so we may have to wait a few days to see what shakes out from his charge. The juvenile was reportedly taken to juvenile detention in Franklin County, so her charge must have been in the felony realm for her to have ended up there.
Jason Stifle is of course part of the bad side (we do realize not all Stifles are bad, but there seem to be quite a number of them that are driven to offend) of the infamous Stifle clan who continues to offend in Crawford County and gets away with it. One recent exception is, of course, Jody Stifle, who is the subject of an interesting turn of events featured in this article that shows there may be hope yet in Crawford when it comes to the utter corruption surrounding some people and events.
Jason Stifle has been set for a next court hearing in June, supposedly when the blood tests will be back. In the meantime
