MT. CARMEL, Ill. - The Mt. Carmel police report for the second half of December is in, and it's a whopper, with folks being hemmed up on all KINDS of things.
Arrested on FTA after showing up to...appear in court
It starts on the 19th, when Mt. Carmel Police arrested Jacob C. Perry, 28, of Mt. Carmel, after he arrived for court. The arresting officer knew Perry was wanted on a Wabash County failure to appear warrant and placed him under arrest. Perry was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the posting of $500.00 bond.
Then on that same day, officers arrested Brandy L. Goodman, 34 of Mt. Carmel, after she was stopped for a traffic violation in the 2400 block of Cherry Street. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Goodman was driving on a suspended driver’s license. Goodman was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was cited for driving suspended. Goodman was released after posting $150.00 cash bond.
Burglary charge emerges from investigation
On the 21st, Mt. Carmel Police investigating a vehicle burglary ended up arresting a Mt. Carmel couple. Tracy Curtis Wilson, 27, was arrested for burglary and theft after he allegedly entered a parked car to steal a cell phone and a lighter. Wilson then tried selling the stolen to different individuals. Police were able to locate the stolen cell phone and the lighter which resulted in the arrest of Wilson. Wilson’s girlfriend, Cassondra N. Burton, 22, was arrested after it was discovered that she lied to the investigating officer during the investigation. Burton was taken to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with one count of obstructing justice. Wilson was charged with burglary and theft. Both subjects were held pending the posting of bond.
Lawrence guy wanted in Crawford arrested in Wabash...talk about your multi-county stuff
On Dec. 22, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Lucas L. Bickers, 36, of Lawrenceville, after he was stopped in the 200 block of W. 9th Street. During the traffic stop it was determined that Bickers was wanted on a Crawford County failure to appear warrant. Bickers was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and issued the Crawford County warrant. Bickers was held pending the posting of bond.
Then Mt. Carmel Police arrested a driver and his passenger after a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Cherry Street. During the traffic stop it was discovered that the passenger, Kayla J. Delong, 20 of Princeton, was under the influence of alcohol. The driver, Clayton K. Helm, 22 of Mt. Carmel, was arrested for sale,gift, delivery of alcohol to a minor. Delong was also arrested and charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Both subjects were transported to the Wabash County Jail and held for processing.
Fight at the daiquiri place, yall
On Dec. 23, Mt. Carmel Police arrested James H. Burden, 47, of Mt. Carmel after police were called to a fight at Comeaux’s Daiquiri Depot. Police were told that Burden struck a Dakota Campbell in the face during an altercation. Burden was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with Battery. Burden was held pending the posting of bond.
Also on the 23rd Mt. Carmel Police arrested Samantha J. Arnold, 33, of Mt. Carmel after police were called to the Dollar General reference a shoplifter. Arnold is accused of taking clothing, pens, paper, and hair products from the store without paying. Arnold was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with retail theft. Arnold was held pending the posting of bond.
All through the town on Xmas Day...
All was quiet on Xmas eve, but on Xmas day Mt. Carmel Police arrested Jerry L. Osmon, 41, from West Salem on a probable cause for domestic battery. During the arrest. police located suspected cannabis and drug paraphernalia. Osmon was arrested on the probable cause and given city ordinance citations for the cannabis and drug paraphernalia. Osmon was held pending the posting of bond.
Later that day, police arrested Matthew P. Smith, 24 of Mt. Carmel, for DUI after he was stoped for a traffic violation in the area of 13th Street and Mulberry. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Smith was in possession of a shotgun and a hand gun. Smith was arrested for DUI and transported to the Wabash County Jail, where he was charged with DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, disobeying a traffic control device, and violation of the firearm concealed carry act. Smith was released after posting bond.
Also on Christmas, MCPD responded to a residence in the 300 block of W. 6th Street reference an underage drinking party. When police arrived they located 7 minors under the influence of alcohol. Arrested was Mason R. Cook, age 19, of Mt. Carmel. Since it was the Cook residence he was charged with sale, gift, delivery of alcohol to a minor and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Jacob C. Webb, 18, of Mt. Carmel, Nicholas J. Deisher, 19, of Mt. Carmel, and Daniel E. Dydo, 20, of Mt. Carmel were all charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Two 17 year old juveniles and a 16 year old juvenile were also cited for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Then police arrested Melissa J. Luthe, 38, of Mt. Carmel after police were called to a disturbance at 1234 Poplar Street in Mt. Carmel. The arresting officer was told that Luthe struck a family member during an altercation. Luthe was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with domestic battery. Luthe was held pending the posting of bond.
And gearing back up...
After a quiet 26th, things geared back up on the 17th, when Mt. Carmel Police arrested two 18-year-olds for contributing to the delinquency of a minor after they assisted a female juvenile in providing false information to investigating officers. Police were called to the 330 block of W. 10th Street reference three suspicious people. An MCPD Officer came into contact with the subjects and identified two of them as Draven J. Davis and Austin M. Knust of Mt. Carmel. The female juvenile was later identified and it was discovered that she was a 16-year-old female who was wanted on a Wabash County warrant. All three subjects were taken to the Wabash County Jail and held for processing.
Then Mt. Carmel Police arrested 24-year-old Kyle R. Keepes of Evansville, Indiana after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the 600 block of Oak Street. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Keepes was driving on a revoked driver’s license. Keepes was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for driving while revoked and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Keepes was held pending the posting of bond.
