Michael Aud
WHITE CO., Ill. - A belligerent but jovial-looking Carmi guy remains locked up on $150 cash bond after a late-night altercation last night (Tuesday, December 27) in which he vehemently denied involvement.
White County’s Sheriff’s dispatch received a call last night at about 11:43 p.m. from a Calkin Bingman, age 23, who said he’d been battered by Michael Aud, age 25.
The claim got all the cops in the area running to the scene at 714 Summit Street in Carmi, where city police secured the area and a deputy spoke with Bingman.
Benjamin said he was walking by the church at the corner of Ninth and Shipley streets when Mike Aud and Kyle Puckett, age 23, pulled up in a vehicle, Aud got out, and started hitting Bingman in the face. When he tried to get away, Aud jerked Bingman’s jacket and shirt off. Benjamin said he was able to get to his residence at the aforementioned address, and Aud and Puckett went to the neighbor’s house; he told officers he assumed they were looking for him. That’s when he called police.
Benjamin stated he had a busted lip and was also hit in the eye.
After authorities ran a check on Aud, they learned that his driver’s license was suspended, and the hunt was on. And sure enough, Aud was located in a black passenger car parked in front of a house at 708 Sixth Street, along with another man, and Aud was asked to step out, which he did, going to the rear of the car. He was advised of his Miranda rights and asked about the Bingman incident.
Aud told the officer that he’d been “driving around” and hadn’t seen Bingman for a long time.
Aud was then told that he was under arrest for driving while license suspended.
He was asked to turn around and place his hands behind his back…and that’s about the time he became “very argumentative” and kept “wanting to get in the vehicle to get some money out,” according to the police report.
The officer kept instructing Aud to put his hands behind his back and the vehicle would be taken care of; and Aud continued to argue, telling the officer he was “making a big mistake.”
To his credit, the officer was very patient, and kept asking Aud to comply or he would be charged with resisting arrest.
Aud finally turned around and was cuffed. Puckett, who was the other guy inside the car, located the money Aud had been fussing over, and gave it to Aud. Aud was then transported to the White County Jail.
When Puckett was questioned, he would only say that “Bingman pushed Aud first.”
Then the officer went to question Aud about this revelation by Puckett and issue his Driving While License Suspended citation. The officer asked a second time if Aud wanted to give his version of the incident between him and Bingman.
Aud advised a second time that he’d not seen Bingman, stating that if it had been an altercation with Bingman, “Bingman would be in the ICU.”
The officer noted that Aud was argumentative and uncooperative throughout the entire process…which, we have to note, is somewhat reflected in his mugshot.
Whatever the case, Aud was booked and here he is. If any of you know what’s the deal between him and Bingman, feel free to tell us, as it’s kind of inexplicable in the account given here.
