SALINE CO.—As anticipated last week, another alleged victim of James G. Roberts in Eldorado has stepped forward, and more charges have been filed against the elderly man.
Roberts, who will be 70 years old on Tuesday (April 2), was charged last week in Saline County on multiple counts of sex crimes, wherein he’s accused of molesting two young children, a 7-year-old boy and his 6-year-old sister. At that time, source indicated to Disclosure that there were more alleged victims, and yesterday this came to fruition.
Roberts was charged at that time with two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of a victim under the age of 13 (both Class 2 felonies), and a single count of Distributing Explicit Material to a Minor (a Class A misdemeanor). Disclosure hasn’t seen these documents yet and so don’t know the details; we’ll get those Monday, so right now we don’t have the exact age or sex of the victim, nor what the explicit material was—phone pictures, sex video, pornographic magazines, etc. However, last week, one source on the initial story did indicate that there might be a victim, related to the first two, who was as young as age 4. If this turns out to be the case, we’ll bring those details to you.
In keeping with a couple of ongoing themes in this story: Roberts’ daughter Tina in the Warner Robbins, Ga., area might be a little uptight about this second set of charges bearing out, as she viciously insisted last week during a phone call that there were no other victims such as the initial article indicated.
And, directly related to this story, the Illinois State Police agent investigating the alleged crimes has once again made sure his buddy, Len Wells, got leaked the information first, as Wells’ employer, Fairfield’s radio station, which doesn’t routinely cover the Saline County area, had the story this morning. Regular readers will note that White is on his second federal lawsuit, and in that suit, one of his coworkers, Greg Hanisch, was revealed to have been disciplined for leaking information to Disclosure about a particular case (which you can read about here if you have an online subscription, or, pick up a copy of the current edition on stands now)…a fate White has yet to meet.
Roberts will be in court April 15 on both cases, with motion hearings pending; be watching for updates.
