FAYETTE CO., Ill. - A woman from Effingham was cited for DUI-drugs after a single-vehicle accident put her in a ditch off Route 33 in Fayette County last night.
According to Illinois State Police out of District 12, the accident occurred on Illinois Route 128 just north of Route 33 and Beecher City, at about 8:05 p.m. Sunday, May 29.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that Emily J. Arnold, 44, of Effingham, was driving a maroon 2001Jeep Cherokee southbound on Route 128 at that location.
A witness stated he observed the Jeep swerve and change lanes into oncoming traffic multiple times.
The Jeep then left the roadway and crashed into the ditch where it came to rest.
Arnold was transported By Effingham County Ambulance to Effingham St. Anthony Hospital.
She was later cited by ISP for DUI Drugs, Improper Lane Usage, Possession Controlled Substance and No Insurance.
