CLARK CO., Ill. - An interstate wreck last night (Friday, May 27) involved an extrication and resulted in severe injuries for one of the two drivers.

The accident occurred on Interstate-70 westbound near milepost 133 in Clark County at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Illinois State Police in District 12 who worked the wreck said that a gray 2008 Ford F250 being driven by Russell G. Bratcher, no age given, of Columbus, Ind., and a blue 2010 Peterbuilt Truck-Tractor being driven by Salvador Mazariego, no age given, of Rowlett, Texas, were both traveling westbound on I-70 just past milepost 133.

The Ford was behind the truck-tractor, which started to come to a stop due to construction on the roadway.  Bratcher, in the Ford, failed to slow his vehicle and ran into the back of the Peterbilt’s semi-trailer.

The front of the Ford became lodged under the semi-trailer. Bratcher was pinned in his vehicle and had to be extricated.  Mazariego was uninjured. Bratcher was taken to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute for severe injuries.

Bratcher was transported by ambulance to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. He has been cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
