HARDIN CO.—It would appear a couple of our sources on a Hardin County story were mistaken on the status of a story subject there.
We’d been told by two independent sources (who don’t know each other and neither of whom knew we’d asked the other) that Martina Shore-Reeves mom, Chrissy Olveda, had died a few years back, this after getting out of DOC for her part in the murder of Wilson “Junior” Tolbert in the Elizabethtown area. So that’s what we reported on the big story on page 14.
However, we were wrong.
Turns out at least one source who lives in the area is saying that Chrissy is alive and well and kicking around Hardin County.
There would have been no way we could have even KNOWN to triple-check the status of Chrissy’s still drawing-in-air, as we simply don’t know any of the players down there; we’re just reporting what we learn and what’s been documented. As well, the two people who told us were actually at one time each kinda close to the Olveda contingent, so we had no reason to doubt either one. So unless they both knew that we were talking to the other, and conspired to lie to us, there must just be an honest mistake going on somewhere….like maybe Chrissy WANTS people to believe she’s deceased. Stranger things have happened, believe me.
So that’s our ass-kicking typo-god error for the month, and it’s a doozy. We don’t pretend to be perfect; we just try really hard to get it right, and sometimes we don’t. But we make sure and bust our own chops in a very public way when we do make such a mistake…that way, you don’t have to.
