OBLONG—Oblong Chief of Police Chad Pusey and a violent teen have been taken to the local hospital following an incident at 306 North Range St., in Oblong.
Sources indicate a Harley McDaniel, 18, was taken into custody at approximately 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, January 1 and was being combative.
Shortly thereafter calls rang out for ambulances and firefighters to respond because McDaniel was bleeding from cuts he sustained after he “went through the window.”
Reports are coming in that McDaniel busted out the rear window in the cruiser.
It is unknown if he was attempting to escape and after busting the window tried to climb through it or not.
Details are sketchy.
Chief of Police Chad Pusey was the responding officer and he is said to have suffered lacerations and a bruised knee.
Latest reports from the scene indicate that McDaniel was still combative when assisting officers arrived but that he was brought under control in short order.
Sources indicate that McDaniel is being preliminarily charged with one count of Aggravated Battery and one count of Criminal Damage to State Supported Property, both felonies.
Both Pusey and McDaniel are currently being transported to Crawford Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
