LOCAL NOTABLE BUSTED IN HARRISBURG LATE SUNDAY

HARRISBURG—A man well-known to Saline County, especially after the Tim Monroe jury trial in February 2010, was popped very late Sunday night (10.28.12) in town on multiple preliminary counts.

The original mouth-breather, Rodney Marcum….looking kinda rough.

According to official sources, Rodney Marcum, 36, was taken into custody at his residence on South Street in Harrisburg late Sunday on preliminary charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and three separate counts of Theft.

Our sources indicate that the allegedly-thieved items were laying out in plain view at Marcum’s residence at the time of his apprehension, but we still don’t know what they are, nor do we know what the alleged controlled substance was.

Marcum became the focus of much of the Monroe trial when Monroe’s proffer (information given to drug agents in order to nab the higher-up traffickers in exchange for a lesser plea) included him as Monroe’s dealer. Monroe indicated in his testimony that Marcum had “bricks” of cocaine and was a regular dealer to every imaginable person in Saline and surrounding counties who had enough money to sink into coke if they so desired. However, agents refused to “deal” with Monroe, and the proffer languished…along with any testimony about Marcum’s alleged drug activity. And, since Marcum had never been arrested for such a thing, many (likely those who were his alleged customers) diminished Monroe’s statements right down to where he was ridiculed for even bringing such a thing to the fore.

Arnie. Another mouth-breather.

Marcum happens to be pseudo-related to another well-known area guy, major crim Arnulfo Fonseca. Rod is babydaddy to Angelina Fonseca’s offspring, Angelina being Arnulfo’s sister. Arnulfo finally got hemmed up last year after the appellate court upheld that the state could charge him with DUI stemming from the night of his babymomma Ashleigh Miller’s death in 2007, and that it wasn’t double jeopardy nor a violation of his civil rights. Arnie is now sitting in Taylorville where he needs to be and probably leading subculture in DOC for at least the next two years…at which time he’ll get out and likely get right back into trouble again, as that’s was supposedly brought him to Saline County a couple of decades ago (IYC).

The general consensus among Saline Countians when we were researching everything during the Monroe trial is that Marcum provided cocaine to the upper crust of the area; Fonseca provided lower-end dope to the dregs of the area; and between them, they pretty much had the market covered…as well as helped law enforcement officials bust anyone who happened to be their “competition”…all in the name of getting drugs off the streets, of course.

No formal charges have been filed against Marcum as of this morning (10:30 a.m) and he remains jailed. As the situation changes—and it will—we’ll keep you apprised. Keep checking back.
