CLAY CITY, Ill.—This is just a friendly reminder that the Clay County Sheriff’s Department will be holding an “intruder alert drill” at the school in Clay City in Clay County today.
There has been no time specified for the drill; however, Sheriff Andy Myers announced last week that the drill would be conducted at some point in time today. There is no school toady, therefore the drill won’t involve any of the students or staff.
These drills are mandated by law in the state of Illinois and in other states as well; some believe so they can instill the type of panic necessary so that stricter gun control can be forced on the public, a la Newtown, Connecticut.
Whatever the case, if you see police activity at the school today, that’d be why.
