PAULINE F. DELONG

COLES CO.—A Mattoon woman has been charged with Theft after police say she took unidentified items from a grocery store.

Court documents show that on September 27 police were called to the County Market Grocery Store located at 2000 Western Ave. in Mattoon, where Loss Prevention Officer, Carmen Petak was reported to have taken an individual into custody for shoplifting.

When police officer arrived they met with Petak and the suspect, Pauline F. Delong, 35, of 1500 Shelby Ave. Apt 1, Mattoon.

Authorities say that Ms. Delong admitted she had taken three items from the store, valued at less than $150 by concealing them on her person.

Exactly where “on her person” was not revealed in the subsequent police report.

Delong admitted she had no intention of paying for the items since she only had a nickel in her purse.

No stranger to the judicial system, Ms. Delong earned her first felony charge for Retail Theft of less than $150 for which she served two years of probation with another year of probation added December 11, 2002 for apparently violating her the conditions of her release.

In addition to the probation Delong served 176 days in jail and was ordered to pay $350 in fines and fees.

Later in 2002 she was convicted of Providing False Information on a Charge Slip, less than $150.

For that little criminal act she was ordered to serve two years probation and after apparently violating the terms of that probation, in 2002 she was required to serve another year.

Violating her probation a third time in 2003 she received six more months probation along with a 186 day jail sentence and was ordered to pay $936.55 in fines and fees.

On this latest theft charge, Delong was released from custody later the same day after Charles E. Delong of 2516 Boxton Drive Apt. 117, Mattoon posted a $300 cash bond on her behalf.

A preliminary hearing has been set for Nov. 13

West pled guilty to the obstruction charge and was sentenced to 30 months probation with special conditions, 180 days in jail, ordered to undergo medical/mental treatment and pay a fine of $2,515 of which she still owes $90.
