CUMBERLAND CO.—It appears the School House Gentleman’s Club doesn’t always attract gentlemen.
Jerod R. Quick, 31, of 920 Marshall St., Mattoon has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery.
In the first count authorities say that on or about September 30 Mr. Quick caused bodily harm to Jacob R. Scoles when he struck Scoles about the head with his fists, slammed Scoles’ head onto the concrete and stomped on Scoles’ head with his foot.
In the second count alleges that he was at the School House Gentlemen’s Club, a public place of amusement, when he was causing bodily harm to Scoles.
A warrant was issued on Oct. 4 for Mr. Quick’s arrest.
On Oct. 5 Mr. Quick was taken into custody and booked into the county jail on $10,000 cash bond.
A pretrial conference has been set for November 5.
Penal pills leads to escape
Mark J. Kaufman, 43, of 1200 Marshal Ave., Mattoon has been charged with Bringing Contraband Into a Penal Institute and Escape.
Authorities allege that on August 10, Mr. Kaufman brought Carisoprodol (a muscle relaxant) and Acetaminophen/Hydrocodone into the Cumberland County Detention Center.
On Aug. 17, authorities alleged Mr. Kaufman, after having been charged with the offense of Driving While Licensed Revoked, failed to report to the Cumberland County Detention Center for periodic imprisonment, thus prompting the escape charge.
Mr. Kaufman was charged late last year with a Bad Check that he pled guilty to and was ordered to pay fines of $402 and restitution.
Court documents indicate that Kaufman was present during his Oct. 9 court date but doesn’t tell if Mr. K was or is currently in custody or not.
