EDWARDS CO., Ill.—A young Albion man has been charged after an incident with his father last week that resulted in more than violence charges.
Ivan D. Hinds Jr., 20, is accused of getting into a fight with his father Ivan Hinds Sr., 49, last Tuesday (October 21, 2014), during which authorities say he strangled his father, and also struck Senior about the head with his hands. Junior was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery (a Class 2 felony) on the first count and Domestic Battery on the second, which was filed as a Class 4 felony because young Mr. Hinds Jr. had a previous similar conviction in 2013.
But it gets better.
After executing a search warrant on the residence in Albion (on South 5th Street) on Oct. 25, investigators found an alleged 13 pot plants, so he was charged with a Class 4 felony Unlawful Production of Cannabis Sativa Plant charge, as well as a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession charge for a pot pipe found.
Hinds was taken into custody yesterday and booked on a $1,000 cash bond.
