SALINE CO.— A West Frankfort man, riding a motorcycle, was injured today (September 14) at approximately 2:04 p.m. when authorities say a Jeep Wrangler pulled out in front of him.
According to Mark Zimmerman, of Illinois State Police District 19, Joseph J. Reese, 26, of West Frankfort, riding a gray and black 2002 Suzuki motorcycle was southbound on US Rte. 45, just south of Hill Top Road, in Saline County, when for unknown reasons Angela R. Reid, 40, of Harrisburg, driving a red 2003 Jeep Wrangler, pulled out of her driveway onto Rte. 45 in front of Reese.
Reese attempted to avoid striking Reid’s Jeep but was unable to do so.
Reese was transported from the scene by Med Force Ambulance to an Evansville, Ind., hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Reid is said not to have sustained any injuries as a result of the crash.
Reese’s motorcycle was removed from the scene by Bishop’s Towing, of Harrisburg.
Dist. 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Carrier Mills Police Department, two Federal Bureau of Prisons Correctional officers, Med Force EMS and Bishop’s Towing.
Reid was issued a citation for Failure to Yield at a Private Road.
The extent of Reese’s injuries have not been made available.
