JASPER CO.—An explosion on a steam line occurred this morning in a boiler at the power plant outside of Newton.
According to a spokesperson at the Jasper County sheriff’s office, the incident happened at about 9 a.m. today (05.25.12). The plant generates power for Ameren CIPS and sits on Newton Lake.
The spokesperson said that initial response to the incident was showing that there were two people missing from the area where the explosion occurred. However, they were quickly located and accounted for.
She also told Disclosure that while there were a LOT of rescue vehicles dispatched to the scene, there were fortunately NO injuries.
