FLAT ROCK, Ill.—The scene of what’s been termed as a ‘suspicious death’ at a residence on Illinois Route 1 yesterday has turned into a much more tense situation as of today.
As of today, the death of Norman England, 74, from Freelandville, Indiana, has been determined to have been a homicide and is under investigation as such by Illinois State Police investigators.
England’s body was found at a residence located at 3902 North State Highway 1, just outside of Flat Rock, yesterday morning.
We haven’t learned who found him or what the circumstances were. But we spoke with Crawford County coroner Earl Deckard briefly and learned that the state police had been brought in due to the “suspicious” nature of the death.
We then learned that the day prior, there had been a burglary report to authorities regarding that residence.
Whether one had to do with the other remains unknown.
We learned last night that authorities were going door-to-door in the area, asking people if they were aware of anything going on at the residence…and telling them to take precautions. No authorities have stated that the general public is in danger, but the impression is there.
We’re collecting information on the situation at this hour and will be releasing more as things develop.
